Websites for Islington businesses

Upper Street runs north from the Angel, Sadler's Wells sits on Rosebery Avenue, and Angel BID covers 47 streets and 550 businesses.

Islington runs from the Angel up Upper Street to Highbury Corner, with N1 covering most of it and N5 stretching north into Highbury and Arsenal's old patch. Most of the firms I work with sit on Upper Street, around Chapel Market, or down on Whitecross Street near Old Street. The borough is wider than the town centre though — Sadler's Wells on Rosebery Avenue down in EC1R, Camden Passage tucked behind the Angel, and the office cluster around Angel Square pulling in the professional services trade.

Working with Islington

The local economy is the classic inner north London mix — restaurants, cafés, offices and markets. Angel Islington BID (trading name of Angel BID Ltd) covers 47 streets and 550+ businesses in and around Upper Street, with hospitality networking breakfasts run from the Angel. Chapel Market off Liverpool Road, one of the oldest in London, got a £1.6m council spruce-up in 2024. Whitecross Street Market trades between Old Street and Fortune Street. Camden Passage, the antiques strip behind Upper Street, opens Wednesdays and Saturdays. Tishman Speyer's Angel Square office scheme signed two new tenants in May 2026, anchoring the professional services cluster at the City Road end.

Every Islington site is hand-coded, mobile-first, and shipped on its own domain. There's nothing for you to maintain — hosting, SSL, backups, updates and small content edits are all in the £25/month plan. You'll deal directly with me from brief to launch, by email or WhatsApp, in plain English.

Real Islington small businesses, not stock photos

Every Islington brief lands somewhere on the same map of shops, salons, trades and indie operators. Here are some of the real Islington businesses I've researched while writing this page — the kind of place a clean £25/month site is built for.

FAQs

Islington web design — common questions

Do you work with businesses across the whole London Borough of Islington or just the Angel end?

+

Yes — anywhere in N1, N5, N7, EC1R or EC1V. Most of the Islington jobs I do are on or near Upper Street, Chapel Market, Whitecross Street or City Road, but the £25/month plan and 1-2 week turnaround don't change by postcode. I've built sites for cafés, restaurants and professional services from the Angel up to Highbury and across into Clerkenwell.

Will you set up our Google Business Profile or run our SEO for us?

+

No — and that's deliberate. The £25/month plan is just the website itself: a hand-coded site on your own domain, hosting, SSL, backups, software updates, and same-day small content edits. I don't do Google Business Profile work, ranking packages, blogs, paid ads or social media management. The basics of on-page SEO (titles, descriptions, fast loads) are in. Anything beyond that, I'll happily point you at someone who does it properly.

I run a restaurant or café on Upper Street — is this the right kind of site for me?

+

It's exactly the kind of work I do. A short, fast, hand-coded site with your menu, opening hours, address, photos and a phone number that rings on the right phone. I write the copy, you tell me what to change, and it goes live on a domain registered in your name — usually within 1-2 weeks of the agreed brief. Same-day small edits are included for the £25/month.

Can you take card payments or build an online shop for my Camden Passage or Chapel Market stall?

+

Basic product showcase pages, yes — photos, descriptions, prices, an enquiry form. Full e-commerce checkout with card processing, no — I don't build those. If you need a proper shop, I can point you at someone who does that work.

Do you do SEO, blogs, or Google Business Profile?

+

No — and that's deliberate. The £25/month plan is for a clean, quick website on its own domain, with the basic on-page SEO sorted (sensible page titles, descriptions, fast loads). It is not a marketing package. If you want someone to actively manage your Google Business Profile, run a blog, or chase rankings, this isn't the right service — I'd rather say so upfront.
