Websites for Camden businesses

Camden Market fills the old Pickfords stables, the Roundhouse sits at Chalk Farm, and the Regent's Canal runs through the middle of it.

Camden is the busy, slightly scruffy north London stretch that most people picture when they say 'NW1'. The Regent's Canal cuts through the middle, the Roundhouse stands at the top of Chalk Farm Road, and Camden Market fills the old Pickfords stables site by the lock. Most of the firms I work with sit on Camden High Street, down Parkway, or off Kentish Town Road — cafés, tradesmen, creative studios under the railway arches. The borough is wider than the town centre though: Primrose Hill to the west, Belsize Park up the hill, Kentish Town to the north.

Working with Camden

The local economy is the textbook inner north London mix. Camden Market, run by Stables Market (Camden) Ltd from Camden Lock Place, is the single biggest draw and the busiest small-business cluster in the borough — hundreds of stalls, lock-front units and food traders. The Roundhouse runs a young-creative programme out of the old railway shed at Chalk Farm, and Camden Town Unlimited — one of five BIDs in the borough — has been working the area since the mid-2000s out of Buck Street. Independent retail survives at the edges: The Coffee Jar on Parkway, Casa Tua further up Camden High Street, The Fields Beneath for vegan. But trades, creative agencies and the small studios under the arches do most of the day-to-day work.

Every Camden site is hand-coded, mobile-first, and shipped on its own domain. There's nothing for you to maintain — hosting, SSL, backups, updates and small content edits are all in the £25/month plan. You'll deal directly with me from brief to launch, by email or WhatsApp, in plain English.

Real Camden small businesses, not stock photos

Every Camden brief lands somewhere on the same map of shops, salons, trades and indie operators. Here are some of the real Camden businesses I've researched while writing this page — the kind of place a clean £25/month site is built for.

  • Creative industries and live music

The Roundhouse in Chalk Farm has run as a live music and creative-youth venue since the 1960s, and the wider Camden Town / Chalk Farm area clusters small studios and creative agencies (Wikipedia).

FAQs

Camden web design — common questions

Do you work with businesses across the whole borough or just the town centre?

+

Yes — anywhere in NW1, NW3 or NW5. Most of the Camden jobs I do are on or near Camden High Street, Parkway or Kentish Town Road, but the £25/month plan and 1-2 week turnaround don't change by postcode. I've built sites for cafés, tradesmen and creative agencies across the borough.

Will you set up our Google Business Profile or run our SEO for us?

+

No — and that's deliberate. The £25/month plan is just the website itself: a hand-coded site on your own domain, hosting, SSL, backups, software updates, and same-day small content edits. I don't do Google Business Profile work, ranking packages, blogs, paid ads or social media management. The basics of on-page SEO (titles, descriptions, fast loads) are in. Anything beyond that, I'll happily point you at someone who does it properly.

I run a creative agency under the railway arches — is this the right kind of site for me?

+

It's exactly the kind of work I do. A short, fast, hand-coded site with your portfolio, services, contact details and a link you can put on Instagram or your email signature. I write the copy, you tell me what to change, and it goes live on a domain registered in your name — usually within 1-2 weeks of the agreed brief.

Can you take card payments or build an online shop for my Camden shop?

+

Basic product showcase pages, yes — photos, descriptions, prices, an enquiry form. Full e-commerce checkout with card processing, no — I don't build those. If you need a proper shop, I can point you at someone who does that work.

Do you do SEO, blogs, or Google Business Profile?

+

No — and that's deliberate. The £25/month plan is for a clean, quick website on its own domain, with the basic on-page SEO sorted (sensible page titles, descriptions, fast loads). It is not a marketing package. If you want someone to actively manage your Google Business Profile, run a blog, or chase rankings, this isn't the right service — I'd rather say so upfront.
